The Embraer Phenom 100 has an oval fuselage with a 282 cubic feet passenger cabin, a 4.5’x2.1′ door, and 1.2’x1′ windows. Its unpressurized cargo hold is 54.9 cubic feet. Its structural life is 28,000 flight cycles or 35,000 hours, and it is built of 20% composite materials.

It can carry four passengers in its normal configuration, but up to seven passengers with a single crew, with an optional side-facing seat and belted toilet. The cabin interior is designed by BMW DesignworksUSA. The aircraft is equipped with two rear-mounted Pratt & Whitney Canada PW617-F turbofan engines rated at a takeoff thrust of (1,695 pounds to ISA+10 °C. The engines have dual full authority digital engine control (FADEC).

It has a maximum flying range of 1,178 nmi with four passengers and NBAA IFR Reserves.

The cabin design incorporates upscale automotive-style accents and features conveniences usually found in larger aircraft, such as an airstair door, LED lighting, single-piece sidewalls and headliners, and retractable cup holders that are wide enough to fit personal electronic devices and cell phones. Storage nooks, AC power outlets, headset jack points, lighting, and temperature controls, MP3 plugs, and speakers are also integrated into the side-ledge.

After some initial misgivings, Embraer developed a new passenger seat with supplier DeCrane Aerospace, which features improved lumbar support and cushioning, a retractable armrest, and a partially folding seat next to the cabin entry door.

The Phenom 100 is powered by Pratt & Whitney PW600 series engines rated at 1,695 pounds of thrust each, which incorporate engineering and manufacturing advances that make them more inexpensive to build and less complicated to repair than engines on older light jets, such as Cessna’s CJ series.

According to aviation journalist Mark Huber, “You can buy good used Phenom 100s for $2 million or less, make minimal upgrades, and have a solid performer that is only 10 years old or less. Improvements to consider include premium slide, swivel, and recline single executive seats, similar to those aboard the larger Phenom 300.”
