Floyd Mayweather, a professional boxing promoter and former professional, who won three US Golden Gloves championships, and the US national championship at featherweight, has just purchased a new private jet, $60 million Gulfstream G650, known as AirMayweather.

The former fighter, who has an estimated net worth of around $700 million, purchased the jet for his 41st birthday. The Gulfstream G650 has a long-range cruise speed of Mach 0.85 and flies 7,000 nautical miles/12,964 kilometers nonstop with eight passengers. Los Angeles to London, for example, is more than 30 minutes faster, and New York to Tokyo is an hour closer compared to other large-cabin aircraft.

The jet features an 8-foot 6 inch/2.59 meter-wide cabin, the largest in its class, comfortably accommodating 19 passengers. It also includes large Gulfstream panoramic windows, each 28 by 20.5 inches/71 by 52 centimeters, which allows plenty of sunlight into the cabin, even in the galley. Every window has been repositioned higher on the fuselage to maximize viewing comfort.

The Gulfstream G650 also enables travelers to stay connected, whether with internet options, two multichannel satellite communications systems and a wireless local network that provides onboard printing and phone service. Dual media servers, high-definition video source equipment, and a cabin audio system also allow passengers to stay on top of their business, even at Mach 0.925.

The Gulfstream Cabin Management System (GCMS) synchronizes with Apple iOS or select Google Android smartphones and tablets to offer touch-screen control for temperature, lighting, window shades, and entertainment options. Apple iPod touches or Google Android devices are provided as cabin controls, but GCMS also can be saved to a free mobile application on a passenger’s iPhone, iPad or Android device, which enables passengers to save and recall preferences for a subsequent flight.

According to Robert Goyer in Flying Magazine, “The G650 is the biggest, fastest, most luxurious, longest range and most technologically advanced jet – by far – that Gulfstream has ever built. And they did it all on schedule while developing the brand-new super-midsize G280 at the same time. To say that Gulfstream is on a roll is an understatement.”

Floyd Mayweather recently shared his new purchase, which is embossed with the logo of The Money Team, with his 20 million Instagram. The record-breaking 50-0 former fighter is one of the richest athletes on the planet, which has earned him the nickname “Money Mayweather“.

The plane’s pilot wears Floyd Mayweather‘s fight record stitched on his shirt sleeve.

He beat UFC superstar Conor McGregor last summer to win 50 fights undefeated.

A Gulfstream G-IV private jet with rapper Post Malone aboard blew out two tires while taking off from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey Tuesday morning Aug 22, 2018. Fortunately, the aircraft managed to land safely at Stewart International Airport near Newburgh, New York shortly before 4:00 pm.

A Gulfstream Aerospace G-IV aircraft landed safely at Stewart International Airport in New Windsor, NY” The Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement. “The aircraft was towed to the ramp. The FAA will investigate.”

In a tweet, the Post Malone thanked fans for their concern.

I landed guys. Thank you for your prayers. Can’t believe how many people wished death on me on this website. F*** you. But not today,” the rapper said on Twitter.

Oh my God, I hate flying in general,” he told TMZ. “I don’t know what to say. I’m shook.”

The award-winning rapper thanked the pilots and stated he needed a drink to relax after the scare. The jet was carrying 16 passengers and was en route to Luton Airport in London, England, when the accident happened shortly before 11 am on Aug 22, 2018.

According to flight-tracking website Flightradar24, the Gulfstream circled Northern New Jersey for a couple of hours before heading north to Connecticut. The FAA told ABC News that the jet would be diverted to Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport in Massachusetts, however, the aircraft was eventually rerouted to Stewart International Airport, according to the FAA.

According to communication between the Gulfstream’s pilot and control tower at Stewart, both tires on the jet‘s left main landing gear appear to be deflated.

The Gulfstream spent nearly five hours flying in circles over New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut to its fuel load in an attempt to reduce the load on the aircraft’s damaged landing gear. The aircraft was N101CV, a Gulfstream G-IV built in 1993.

Stewart International Airport has one of the longest runways in the Northeastern US at 11,817 feet and is used as a diversion airfield for aircraft as large as the Airbus A380 superjumbo.

The rapper attended the MTV Video Music Awards in New York on Monday August 20, 2018, where his song “Rockstar” won Song of the Year.

Aircraft manufacturers from across the globe pulled out all the stops in displaying their aircraft at the 2018 Farnborough International Airshow last month. Aviation giants like Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Embraer, Gulfstream, and many others all showcased the best of the best in their line up of various size, type, and model jets. One, in particular, stood out from the crowd. The tiniest and dare we say most affordable in Gulfstream’s arrangement, the G280 super mid-size jet is remarkably powerful, fuel-efficient and surprisingly roomy too.

The original conceptualization for the G280 occurred as the result of a combined effort on the parts of Gulfstream and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) in 2005. At the time, the design was intended to follow up Gulfstream’s G200 aka the IAI Galaxy and was to be called the G250. Planned ameliorations upon the previous G200 concept were for the G250 to feature a new glass cockpit, an improved engine performance, larger wings, and heated leading edges. The G250 took off on its initial test flight in Tel Aviv, Israel in December of 2009. Later, in 2011, the G250’s name was changed to reflect a sequence of numbers that were less culturally subversive, making the G250 the G280.

Following a successful test protocol, the Gulfstream G280 specifications included a range of 3,600 nmi at Mach 0.80 while carrying up to four passengers. The G280 was awarded full certification from both Israel and the United States in September of 2012.

Beyond the jet’s impressive performance specs, the aircraft features several innovations, like an extensive cabin length, a new engine, an advanced T-tail design with larger horizontal and vertical stabilizers, and convenient access from the cabin into the cargo hold.

While the aircraft’s exterior is sleek and aerodynamic, the G280’s spacious interiors are reflective of a zen-like atmosphere. The jet’s 19 oval-shaped windows allow for natural light to fall across the entirety of the cabin’s full 25 feet in length and delivers breathtaking viewpoints to the jet’s passengers. In the trademark Gulfstream style, fresh air is circulated throughout the cabin, while the pressurization is set to a lower altitude allowing for more breathability. This, in turn, allows for passengers to refresh and rejuvenate while in flight, and ultimately sees them arrive rested and relaxed at their final destinations.

Three select floor configurations create an opportunity for owners and operators to customize the cabin design to improve the functional purpose of the flight be it for work, entertainment, rest or a combination of all three. Every G280 is intended to highlight the owner’s sense of style.

The interior of the Gulfstream G280 provides ultimate luxury for up to 10 passengers

The executive class jet has accommodation for as many as 10 corporate travelers, with various configurations crafting opportunities to uniquely work, eat and sleep. Retractable tables installed between seats make it easy to conduct business while in flight and the lavish leather seats, as well as comfortable fabric-covered, divans allow travelers to rest in between business calls, and in-flight movies. The jet has a fully functional lavatory and a gallery featuring stone countertops.

Travelers can execute autonomous control over managing temperature, lighting, monitors and entertainment systems while inflight via Gulfstream’s Cabin Management System. The CMS integrates fingertip control through an iPod touch to adjust various system settings. Passengers can further exhibit control over their comfort by downloading an app to their Apple iPhone and other devices that will adjust the position of their seats.

A comprehensive entertainment system features dual Blu-ray DVD players and high-definition monitors. High-speed connectivity is taken to the ultimate level with Gulfstream’s signature CabinView. CabinView is an integrated systems program that which delivers a web page format to track flight progress, map geographic partitions and check out points of interest.

The high tech flight deck of the Gulfstream G280 has become an industry standard

The G280 flight deck includes state of the art Gulfstream PlaneView280 avionics as well as what has become an industry standard for Gulfstream produced aircraft, auto braking, and autothrottle technologies. The cutting-edge automated braking system permits a more rapid reaction time versus pilot response and can apply an instantaneous maximum braking force should specific circumstances apply.

The tiny jet is powered by twin Honeywell HTF7250G turbofan engines, with 7,624 lb each. The G280 has an unprecedented climb capability. At maximum takeoff weight (MTOW), the jet requires 210 feet less runway projection, which means long-range flights in the G280 can effectively take off from shorter airfields. Additionally, as the G280 can climb to 43,000 feet in less than 20 minutes, the jet has a best in class fuel efficiency, consuming 12 percent less fuel than any comparable jet in its mid-sized class.

And, last but definitely not least impressive, the Gulfstream G280 sells for less than 25 million. Yes, that’s a hell of a lot more than pocket change for most, but when compared with various other aircraft in its class, the G280 is the most powerful and impressive jet aircraft you can buy for so little.

Recently the Gulfstream G600 private jet prototype made an appearance at the 2018 Farnborough International Airshow in Farnborough, Hampshire, UK and to say people found it impressive would be an understatement. Gulfstream, the Savannah-based aviation manufacturer designed the G600 with the following objectives in mind, unprecedented comfort, and spaciousness, state of the art technological advancement in long-range flight as well as improved fuel performance and operator ease of use. Listed at 57.9 million dollars the Gulfstream G600 is further expected to be a more luxurious and improved upon aircraft than previous Gulfstream and the various other comparably priced aircraft in its class.

Expected to enter into service sometime in 2019, the Gulfstream G600‘s roomy dimensions extend 96 feet in length, 25 feet in height with an impressive 94-foot wingspan. The spacious 45 foot long, 6.5 feet tall cabin seats 19 comfortably and the lavish zen infused interior can be customized to reflect the owner’s specific tastes and preferences. The interior’s design features supple leather seating, mirrored bulkheads, wood grain trim, and embellishments. Additional customizable options include the option of a forward or aft galley and should the owner request it, the installation of a fully functional shower. Divan style sofas recline into beds for sleeping and adjustable tables may be used as a workspace or for dining.

An innovative interactive Cabin Management System offers travelers full autonomy over the lighting, window shades, temperature and entertainment via the use of touch-screen devices. Functional connectivity allows for travelers to engage in business per the usual with the implementation of in-flight office space with pedestal-mounted conference tables that are height adjustable. Additionally, the Gulfstream G600 is outfitted with a complete entertainment system including high-speed WiFi and large entertainment screens to watch movies while in flight.

Conceptualized as a luxurious offering for travelers, developers sought to make comfortable accommodation for the crew as well. The Gulfstream G600 has ample room for the addition of two crew members, with a reclining seat available for pilot or crew rest on transcontinental flights.

The state of the art flight deck is outfitted with the new Gulfstream Symmetry avionics suite and 10 touchscreens. It’s important to note that the Gulfstream G600 in one of the initial two civilian aircraft to have integrated sidestick technology which permits both pilots to detect the other’s control inputs.

The Gulfstream G600 derives its impressive performance specifications as a result of twin Pratt & Whitney PW815 15,680 lbf turbofan geared engines. Marketed as the fastest business jet aircraft and 20-plus percent more efficient than comparable aircraft in its class, the Gulfstream G600 can transport passengers 7,500 nautical miles while achieving speeds of up to Mach 0.9.

This summer, the G600 made its European debut at the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) held annually in Geneva, Switzerland. The jet flew directly from its home base in Savannah to Geneva in record-breaking time while traveling at speeds over 600 mph. As a result of the trip, the Gulfstream G600 established a city-pair speed record between the two cities.

The Gulfstream G600 took off on its initial test flight in December of 2016 and certification was expected to be achieved two years later. Unfortunately, recent setbacks and contract disputes between Pratt & Whitney Canada and the developer of an integral component of the G600 engine, Oklahoma-based aerospace firm Nordam may lead to delays in the progression of the jet program. Or potentially affect the delivery of the aircraft or the certification thereof. As it stands currently, certification is still anticipated for the end of the year.

When asked about the dispute, Pratt & Whitney Canada parent company, Pratt & Whitney indicated they don’t anticipate any issue with deliveries being made promptly. At this stage, proponents of the jet program, fans and industry insiders are anticipating the G600‘s entry into to service to happen sometime next year with deliveries starting around the same time.

New York City is a busy center for many industries including fashion, financial markets and major entertainment which plays a dramatic role in its immense amount of private jet clients and operators. Having over 8 million residents to serve makes for many different airports required to handle the masses that fly every day of the year. Major airports are plentiful including those such as JFK, Laguardia and Newark International. However, the most convenient NYC air charter airports are those that are smaller, private and conveniently located a short distance from downtown.

When choosing the best NYC air charter airport for your private jet arrival or departure, it is important to not only look at the amenities but also how scheduling for your flight to take off or land at one of these can save you time. Even just a few minutes can mean the difference between a meeting missed and a meeting held. With fewer delays, congestion and lower landing fees, these top 4 are our favorites in the area to save you time, and money.

Teterboro Airport - KTEB - New Jersey

Teterboro Airport – KTEB – New Jersey

KTEB – New Jersey – Teterboro Airport

Teterboro, often seen as the most popular NYC air charter airport, is also the oldest with its inception dating back to 1919. KTEB is located on Hwy-1 across from George Washington Bridge and a short way from the Lincoln Tunnel. Although it does not service commercial airplanes the airport serves many New York City private jet charter clients from industries ranging from big financial members to other private or individuals in the Manhattan area. Teterboro Airport has two runways, one being 7000’ N to S runway and a 6000’ SW to NE runway.

Teterboro has over 5 FBOs, several of which are also operators, located around the entire field. Each has its amenities catering to clients and easily accessible from many entry points. KTEB also hosts many transient aircraft along with its 94 charter aircraft, and several other Part 91 jets of all types and sizes. The airport is often used as a stop for local operators from other fields awaiting their next missions.

Westchester County Airport - KHPN – White Plains, New York

Westchester County Airport – KHPN – White Plains, New York

KHPN – White Plains – Westchester County Airport

Located in Northern Westchester Country, White Plains offers easy access to clients heading in or out via major roadways such as Hutchinson Pkwy. Home to multiple airways and a commercial terminal, as well as holding the most Part 91 aircraft in the country, give KHPN an advantage for hosting many private travelers. Many fortune 500 companies fly from here. Influencing its private jet operations allows private jet users the upper hand when it comes to operations and issues.

Not only does this make decisions regarding flights much simpler and expedited but also its scenic layout is a big draw for companies, operators and flyers throughout the world. The airport services areas such as Greenwich, and Stafford Connecticut. With it’s lower popularity in comparison to KTEB, private jet operators often will book aircraft at a decent discount for those travelers switching from the number one private airport.

Republic Airport - FRG - Farmingdale, New York

Republic Airport – FRG – Farmingdale, New York

FRG – Farmingdale – Republic Airport

As they are within proximity to each other, we felt it appropriate to list these two together.

Farmingdale was built in 1927 by Sherman Fairchild, an aircraft manufacturer. It lies off hwy 111 and like Islip, services clients in the Long Island and Eastern Boroughs of New York. FRG is a completely executive field that provides quicker landings and takeoffs than the larger commercial site at Islip. There are 2 major national FBOs at Farmingdale as well as 45 Part 135 aircraft. With its two jet length runways, Republic Airport offers great access in all winds and inclement weather.

Long Island MacArthur Airport - ISP - Islip, New York

Long Island MacArthur Airport – ISP – Islip, New York

ISP – Islip – Long Island MacArthur Airport

Long Island MacArthur Airport was founded in the 1940s to supplement the war effort. It is located conveniently on the I-495 corridor and services both private and commercial flights. Islip is home base to 28 Part 135 aircraft including several newer Legacy 600 aircraft that are a slightly lower-cost alternative to Gulfstream GIV type products. Another convenience of Islip is its larger size and multiple runways including several jet length and one turboprop runway.

So why not one of the major airports?

Often, many people do not consider these airports when they think of flying into or out of New York City, however, for private jet charter clients, these are the best in the state. With their proximity to the city as well as less of a wait time to take off, passengers can often save on time and money by arriving or departing from any of these mentioned.
